Monitoring and Volunteer Missions of NGDO SIM in Mozambique
July, August and September 2012
SIM - Solidarity International to Mozambique, NGDO (Non Governmental Organization for Development), during the months of July, August and September held several actions in Mozambique, under two missions, one was monitoring the activities along the most needy communities at Inhambane's village, in particular Inhassoro and Bazaruto.
Part of the mission was visiting Sitone's community and school, where SIM distributed sweatshirts, hats, school supplies and a special meal for the kids from the school. In Bazaruto, king Mazalletti - the chief of the community, an Administration spoksman of the Bazaruto's National Park, the local representative of Frelimo and the two teachers of the School, participated on the special events.
This were opportunities to show to SIM's President, Carmo Jardim, the work assessment and ideas for it's development in the future.
In Inhassoro, the mission aimed to keep up the scholarship holders of SIM's HOME, acquainting themselves with the issues and addressing the improvements needed for the best functioning of the Home.
It will be extremelly necessary to raise some funds for the improvements needed at the place, like the renewing of sanitation and increasing the kitchen, to have better living conditions at SIM's HOME.
During the months of July and August, NGDO SIM also organized a Education and Sport missions for the scholarship holders, with great success.
The Volunteers tooked this chance to try to know in detail the needs of the group and each holder in particular. They went along with the young fellows to the schools, stayed during classes and shared information with teachers and the schools principals. They also developed hygiene and health prevention programs, that were received with great satisfaction and a well committed participation by the group of fellows supported by the NGDO SIM.
